Job Title: Sr. Retail Marketing Manager - Personal Care and Home Care categories
Function: Retail Marketing
Reporting to: Reports to Senior Retail Marketing Team Leader
Main purpose
- Develop insight-based shopper marketing solutions for RE Innovation and Customer Collaboration to build volume, market share, and category growth for Colgate’s business.
- Responsible for Marketing activation and touch point expertise for Personal Care and Home Care categories in the country.
- Implementation of the activity grid and new product Go to Market, for both categories, that is developed by Consumer Experience team in the Hub.
- Develop Retail Environment strategies and 5P’s based on Category and Brand Strategies and on robust RE, shopper and customer insight. Provide input on retailer perspective in commercial process
- Also responsible for Business Planning monthly discipline for Personal Care and Home Care categories.
Main responsibilities
Category /Retail Environment (RE) Strategy / Customer engagement
- Input Category / RE Strategy and RE’s prioritization in terms of the level of investment & applied solutions.
- Provides input to 5P Category & Brand Strategies by RE and Customer.
- Work with Consumer Experience team in the Hub to identify category, brand strategies and tactics by retail environment, agreeing annual activity grid and budget by category and shopper activations.
- Build shopper Insights for RE and/or customer expertise, recommends the solutions to RM Team leader for insights prioritization
Local Commercial Activation
- Activates Category Growth Drivers in the customers plans, Retail Category Development process, shopper mkt programs.
- Develops shopper marketing programs: RE Innovation and Customer Collaboration based on insights.
- Implements brand activation and category demand creation, the activity grid and new product Go to Market for the subsidiary that is developed by Consumer Marketing Hub.
- Build expertise on touch points for Marketing activation planning and execution and to adapt the Marketing plans by RE and Customers
Develops tools, merchandising materials and in-store programs for effective shelf management and for inducing shoppers to purchase Colgate products in-store for the category.
- Develops impactful and relevant presentations and tools (5P’s tools, trade stories, NPD activation programs, etc) to execute the plans for Customer Development Team.
- Is responsible for conducting pre and post analysis of promotions, supports the process of archiving of performance history, and adjusts business plans based on results to drive improved ROI across all types of trade spending.
Conducts regular trade visits, communicates findings & recommendations by category & brand for key customers.
In cooperation with RE Manager supports the area of In Store Management, including 5P’s communication to the Merchandisers and Field team, excellence in store execution and 5P’s monitoring
Provides translations and approves the packaging art-works ensuring legal approvals
Leads media copy (TVC, digital, etc) translation and adaptation including legal approvals (for Romania)
Financial accountabilities
- Delivers budgeted Category & Brand Market Share, Net Sales & Operating Profit for the category in the country.
- Coordinates overall Margin growth / Positive NSPI / SPI plans across categories, brands, key customers for category.
- Supports the CD team to deliver customer-specific P&L for category.
- Owns and manages promotional (A&P) budget within guidelines (embed in commercial process
- Actively supports SKU simplification with cross-functional team including CS&L, Finance, Customer Development leader & Country Managers
Budgeting & CBP
- Inputs to the processes related to Budget Review/MYR Volume plan & Financial Goals according to the agreed responsibilities.
- Coordinates the budget process regarding the country promotion (A&P) budget & Consumer Gross-to-Net spending for the category.
- Responsible for monthly discipline for a particular category, based on the CBP commercial process
- In cooperation with CDM’s develops recommendations to accelerate sales & SOM growth or address gaps for key customers based on brand performance (CBP).
Retail Category Development
- Supports Retail Category Development process through development of the category shopper solutions / breakthrough initiatives for selective customers.
People management / Others
- Manages direct reports in alignment with Colgate Code of Conduct & Colgate-Palmolive values, provides exposure opportunities for direct reports for learning and personal development.
- Acting in accordance with “Competition Law”, “Rules of the Roads” and “Commercial Selling Principles”
- Follows the other requests of the supervisor within the area of responsibilities
Range of Qualifications
Level of Education: College/University
Years of Experience (range): 5–6 years in Marketing, Brand Management in a multinational company (preferably FMCG). Additional experience in Customer Development/Sales is a big plus
Functional Experience and Technical Skills:
- Experience in Consumer marketing to build the expertise on marketing implementation and to understand touch points priorities
- Commercial (retailer and brand) awareness to work together w/ RE managers and CDT to recommend the shopper programs relevant to grow the business
- Knowledge on the how to get insights and how to transform into action
- Able to build good relationship w/ CDT and Marketing to implement the Mkt strategies from the Hub, to adapt the activity grid and achieve the business objectives
- Proven ability to provide inputs (good communication skills) in the monthly commercial process and the marketing activity grid
- Financial knowledge (P&L) to recommend initiatives that brings financial results and understanding the impact on the business and ROI
